NATAL’s programs address the endemic issue of psychotrauma caused by ongoing terror and war through innovative approaches. NATAL directly treats individuals with trauma, and also recognizes the importance for creating systems that will sustainably train mental health professionals and other community stakeholders, as well as building up the mental health and trauma infrastructure to create a more resilient Israeli society for the future.
NATAL’s work considers not just the individual in isolation but also how they interact with and are influenced by their broader environment, including their community, culture, and physical surroundings.
This ecological approach recognizes that trauma and resilience are shaped by multiple layers of influence—from personal experiences to the societal context—and that effective treatment and support needs to address these interconnected factors.
NATAL is in part an emergency organization, dealing with extreme situations as they are unfolding as well as in the immediate aftermath, but we also treat post-trauma, and see people days, months, and years after they have experienced a traumatic or emergency incident. That balance explains our NATAL model, the cycle of trauma.
